The roof of the building is almost complete and the final layer of the porch roof is soon to follow.

July 20, 2003

The front of the store is now covered with board and baton and has been stained with a weathered barn wood stain.  The steel frames on the inside of the store have been painted white to match the ceiling.

The red standing seam roof is now on the porch.  Faerber Plumbing Service in Hermann, MO is the plumber that has been hired for the project.  They began working on the floor drains on 7/23/03.  D&H Sales has started on the driveway and will be pouring the concrete soon.

August 12, 2003

The plumbers finished installing the floor drains for the store on August 8th.  Half of the driveway has been poured and the remainder is soon to follow.  Almost all of the board and baton has been stained.  The next step is for the electricians to install the wiring.

August 15, 2003

All of the driveway has been poured and 1/4 of the floor inside the building has been poured.  The remainder of the floor should be completed within the week.

September 4, 2003

The concrete floor is finished...no floor in this area looks quite like it!  Baker Electric is working on the wiring.  The construction crew is now enclosing the front porch, framing in the inside walls and working on the sidewalks.  B&H Well Drilling began working on the well this week.

September 21, 2003

There has been much progress over the last few weeks.  The windows on the front of the building are now in place.  What a difference they make in the look of the building!  A single manual door was also installed at the north end of the closed in porch.  On the south end of the porch, there will be a double-wide automatic door.  The board and baton around the windows has been stained to match the rest of the building.

The refrigeration company started installing the meat, deli, produce and dairy coolers on September 11th.  Dry wall is now being hung on the inside of the building, the electricians are installing the lights and equipment is being moved into the building.  Concrete sidewalks have been poured on the south side of the building and the north end of the porch.  The remainder of the sidewalks will be poured soon.

Loutre Market now has lights on the inside of the building and will soon have lights in the parking lot.  All of the coolers are in place and almost ready to be turned on.  The remainder of the sidewalks have been poured and the parking lot will be paved this week.

The inside walls of the building have been painted.  The walls for the office, bathrooms and produce prep room have been built.  The electricians and plumbers are almost finished with their work.

November 17, 2003

Loutre Market can now be identified by the new sign on the front of the building.  Now, the rumor of it being called "Melody's Grocery Store" will have to end.  There are lights in the parking lot so viewers can see the building at night.  All of the coolers are running and ready for groceries.  The parking lot and a driveway to the south entrance has been paved.

All the inside walls have been painted and doors and trim are being hung.  Signs are being made for each department and aisles.  The plumber and the refrigeration company have finished their work, and the electricians are finishing up this week.  Representatives from Associated Wholesale Grocers were here last week setting up shelves.  Groceries will be stocked sometime this week.  Loutre Market is getting closer to opening!
